The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the State’s legal business, acting as legal advisors and representatives of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials, and institutions of State Government. The OAG also protects the public by civil enforcement of antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and securities laws and regulations and by the prosecution of organized crime, Medicaid fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud, state tax evasion, and other statutorily assigned matters. As Maryland’s 47th Attorney General, Anthony G. Brown leads the Office with a critical focus on equity, justice, and fairness.
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Attorney General (AAG) in the General Enforcement Unit of the Consumer Protection Division. Attorneys in this unit work collaboratively in a mission-driven environment, with the opportunity to litigate complex cases and drive systemic change that protects consumers and strengthens communities across Maryland. The unit is led by a Division Chief and currently includes a team of nine Assistant Attorneys General.

The AAG will lead investigations into patterns of unlawful conduct and bring enforcement actions to secure restitution for harmed consumers, obtain civil penalties, and pursue injunctive relief to prevent future violations.
This position is ideal for an attorney who is passionate about public service and committed to holding bad actors accountable. It offers the chance to make a meaningful impact—particularly for vulnerable Marylanders – by pursuing high-impact cases that deter misconduct and promote fairness in the marketplace.
