Assistant Attorney General – Revenue & Regulatory
The Revenue & Regulatory Law Section is seeking an attorney to join its dynamic and collaborative legal team. This is an opportunity to litigate and provide general counsel legal services in challenging areas of law that frequently present novel legal questions. Attorneys in the Section address a wide variety of interesting and complex issues. The selected attorney will handle a diverse caseload of significant administrative, licensure, and disciplinary actions, primarily for the Department of Regulatory Agencies, as well as for various independent judicial commissions, boards, and ombudsmen. Among other things, this attorney will represent clients before the Office of Administrative Courts and other venues in defending agency determinations. This attorney will also serve as general counsel for various clients, and will guide the clients in rulemaking, respond to legal questions from the program, and advise on the legal impact of legislation. The Revenue & Regulatory Law (R&R) section is comprised of 10 different Units. The R&R section represents state regulatory agencies, including the Department of Regulatory Agencies, the Department of Local Affairs, the Department of Revenue, and the Department of Agriculture. R&R is the largest section in the Department of Law, comprised of over 110 team members who tackle a diverse array of legal challenges for nearly 100 state agencies, boards, commissions, divisions and ombudsmen. The work of the R&R section is critical to ensuring all licensees are providing fair services to Coloradans and protecting consumers through oversight of these industries and professions to protect public health and safety.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The selected attorney will primarily represent DORA divisions, boards, and commissions and independent judicial boards, commissions and ombudsman before the Office of Administrative Courts and other venues in defending agency determinations.. This attorney may also assist on other matters as assigned, including litigation and general counsel matters. This is a fantastic opportunity for a team-oriented attorney who is eager to work in a multi-disciplinary group and who enjoys both litigation and providing general counsel advice.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Qualified applicants must be admitted to the Colorado Bar or be clearly eligible to waive into the Colorado Bar and be in good standing at the time of application. Candidates eligible to waive into the Colorado Bar will be required to submit proof of their completed application and application for Practice Pending Admission before the first day of employment.
