The Office of the New York State General (OAG) is seeking an experienced attorney for the Criminal Enforcement and Financial Crimes Bureau (CEFC), based in Buffalo. The bureau investigates and prosecutes criminal acts related to securities fraud, tax fraud, and other white-collar crimes. The bureau includes attorneys, detectives, auditors, and analysts who conduct complex, long-term criminal investigations and prosecute cases statewide, from charging through conviction.
We are seeking an attorney with a minimum of five (5) years of New York state prosecutorial experience, including significant experience in the investigation of white-collar crimes, utilizing techniques such as search warrants, cell-site orders, cooperating witnesses, and forensic analysis of large volumes of documents and financial records. The candidate must have substantial grand jury and trial experience, be highly motivated and results-oriented, and possess excellent communication and writing skills. Employment will require travel to handle matters in the Western New York region. Other occasional travel within New York state may be required.
Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York state and be admitted to practice law in New York state. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that OAG attorneys be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.
