The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the State’s legal business, acting as legal advisors and representatives of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials, and institutions of State Government. The OAG also protects the public by civil enforcement of antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and securities laws and regulations and by the prosecution of organized crime, Medicaid fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud, state tax evasion, and other statutorily assigned matters. As Maryland’s 47th Attorney General, Anthony G. Brown leads the Office with a critical focus on equity, justice, and fairness.
The Office of the Attorney is seeking a Management Associate to provide administrative support to a dedicated team of 13 Assistant Attorney Generals in the Civil Litigation Division and Courts & Judicial Affairs Division. The 13 AAGs include: two Division Chiefs and two Deputy Division Chiefs. The position also works with one Administrative Officer.
The Civil Litigation Division defends the State of Maryland, its officers and employees in significant and high-profile civil litigation. The Courts & Judicial Affairs Division represents judges and the State courts, clerks, states attorneys, registers of wills, the Office of Administrative Hearings and Tax Court and all their respective employees in litigation and non-litigation matters. The legal work performed by the Divisions is frequently the subject of public interest and media attention. Strict confidentiality is required.
Together with other professional staff, the Management Associate will be integral to the success of both Divisions, performing duties that enable the attorneys to focus on more complex legal tasks and strategy. This position requires a strong working knowledge of legal office and court procedures, word processing, Microsoft Office applications and Maryland electronic court filing systems and ECF (federal).

Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years of performing secretarial or clerical work in a legal environment, including word processing, document preparation, filing and other administrative tasks.
Ideal candidates will be highly organized, capable of prioritizing multiple tasks, and demonstrate initiative in identifying and solving problems as they arise. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This position also requires sound independent judgment and the ability to perform duties with limited supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the Maryland Electronic Courts (MDEC) and ECF (federal) filing systems;
- Experience in compiling appellate briefs
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and MS365 applications.
