Responsibilities
The attorney selected for this position will do a range of work handled by the Regulatory Affairs and Public Advocacy (RAPA) Section. The RAPA section primarily performs the Attorney General’s statutory function of representing the public interest in utility and pipeline carrier matters before the Regulatory Commission of Alaska. The section also provides policy analysis on related matters. The attorney in this position would mainly assist in rate cases and other proceedings before the Regulatory Commission of Alaska. In doing so, the attorney would utilize the expert technical support of RAPA non-attorney professionals and outside professionals as witnesses who provide accounting, engineering, and economic analyses for all types of regulated utilities and pipelines in pre-filed testimony and at hearing
Qualifications
Post-graduation experience practicing law as a licensed attorney and/or clerk for a trial or appellate judge is preferred, but not required. The ability to work on a team is essential. Applicants should be comfortable learning a complex area of the law over the course of time prior to receiving first-chair assignments in major rate case proceedings. Prior experience in utilities or pipeline rate cases is not required.
