State settled claims that defendant rigged bids on a 1991 furniture contract with the state’s Department of General Services. United Chair violated the non-collusion affidavit submitted with its bid to the Department of General Services by telling Pennsylvania dealers what its bid
would be prior to the bid opening In addition to paying $30,000, the company also agreed to refrain from discussing with its authorized
dealers bid prices on data processing furniture contracts to be let by Pennsylvania
government agencies, and agreed not to restrict its Pennsylvania dealers from bidding
on State General Services Department data processing furniture contracts during the
next two years. The $30,000 will be divided as follows: $20,000 to the Office of the
Attorney General for future antitrust enforcement efforts; and, $10,000 to the Attorney General’s office to reimburse the costs.
