Case Description
In separate suits, the State of Texas and the Federal Trade Commission sued to enjoin the acquisition by El Paso Energy of PG&E which Texas and the Federal Trade Commission alleged would substantially lessen competition in the pipeline transmission of natural gas in Texas. Both Texas and the Federal Trade Commission entered consent Decrees with the parties, allowing the acquisition to proceed with divestiture of certain pipeline assets. El Paso also agreed to pay the state $160,000 in attorneys fees.
